Garlic rolls recipe with step by step photos. Sharing a very easy to bake snack/ dinner that you can serve with soup during cold nights. Garlic rolls are spongy and soft buns filled with flavored garlic butter. I have added some grated cheese for more flavor.
Usually garlic rolls recipe is made with plain flour but here I have used whole wheat flour. Soft and spongy garlic rolls can be easily made with wheat flour, just that the dough should be kneaded well. Garlic rolls are quite popular just like cinnamon rolls.
To make garlic rolls recipe, I have used whole wheat flour. You can use maida or combination of both. Adding grated cheese gave a nice flavor and texture to the bread. While this makes a very nice snack or dinner fresh off the oven, I toasted the leftover rolls with some butter and they were awesome. This is a very easy and straight forward garlic rolls recipe that even beginners can try. It may a bit of practice to roll and slice but the rolls will be nevertheless tasty.

Step by step garlic rolls recipe
1.Take 1 cup luke warm water in a small bowl. Add 2 teaspoons sugar and mix well. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon active dry yeast and rest for 15 minutes. The yeast will bubble and turn frothy.
2. In a mixing bowl add the yeast water. To that add 2 cups whole wheat flour, 2 teaspoons olive oil, salt, chili flakes and mix well. Knead the dough well for 10 minutes. The dough will be little sticky. Do not add more flour. Make a soft and smooth dough. Set aside covered for 1.5 hours.
3. In the meantime let us prepare garlic butter. Take soft salted butter in a mixing bowl. Add minced garlic, dried parsley,chili flakes and oregano. Mix well
3. Once the dough is doubled in volume, punch it and knead slightly. Roll it into a circle as seen in picture
4. Spread the garlic butter all over generously. Reserve some for final brushing. Sprinkle grated cheese
5. Now roll the disc into log. Cut the log into equal sized pieces.
6. Grease and dust a baking tin. Place the cut pieces in the baking tin. Brush the remaining garlic butter all over the rolls. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.
7. 15 minutes prior to baking, preheat oven at 200C. Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes. The top will turn golden and crispy. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve garlic rolls warm.

Notes
