Human skeletal remains were found at a Berkeley County coal yard, officials said.
The Berkeley County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call around 3:15 p.m. on June 2 about the possibility of human remains at the Santee Cooper-Cross Generations Station coal yard, according to a 9 p.m. statement from Coroner Darnell Hartwell.
The remains were recovered and determined to be human, Hartwell said. An autopsy is scheduled for June 6. DNA is expected to be used to determine the identity of the remains, Hartwell said.
